*Seniors this will count as your creative project. Part of your final exam.

Assignment ONE: Sign up for a Blog!

1. You will use you epals.com Email account to create your blog. ( If it does not work see me for help) For some reason it thinks this email is a mobile email address. if you exit out and log in sometime it works.
2. Blogger Account Set Up http://www.blogger.com/

You need to set up a blogger account to use to complete your work for the Internet Unit.. If you have any questions this tutorial may help you with setting one up.

You will need to use your class epal email account and create a user name and password.

User name should be studentc and then your number example studentC33
For your blog title and url call it StudentC and your number. same as user name studentC33

POST 1. Make your first post to your blog . Write a good paragraph about your favorite assignment you did for this class. Describe the assignment and tell why it is your favorite. What did you enjoy about it. Make sure you save it.

POST 2: List the name of your five favorite sites. Post them as links in your blog to the side in a link gadget. (Make sure you post them in a link list gadget not just in a new post) Post your netvibes link. Go to our Wikispace and click on your decade. Post that link on you blog.

Post 3: You are going to create a voki and add it to your Blog.
If you want to call in to record your voki message you must do it from home. No Cells phones allowed in the classroom during this time. If you want to record your voki using a microphone see me before school or after school. You can also do it from home. The easiest way to do this here is to type in your message. It will have to be a short message if you type in the words. Ideas for your voki. You can do a hello message welcome to my blog intro. What your favorite song is. What your favorite group or singer is. Your Voki must be approved before you post it on your blog. Here is a video on how to create a Voki.
















Post 4 Create a Wordle picture for your blog . Go to http://www.wordle.net/create

Click on Create tab. Pick 5 or more words about something appropriate for your blog and School. Can be technology related or school sports or clubs. Type in your words and use ~ between words to keep them together. The more you type the word the bigger it will be. Use at least 5 words. When you are finished click on F11 and then print screen. (Do NOT PRINT)
Open paint and paste in paint. Click on the select tool and draw around your Wordle. Slightly move the framed Wordle and right click and copy. Open a new paint file and click on paste. You need to add the link for copyright purposes. So on you paint Wordle copy this link and paste in somewhere either on the top or bottom of you Wordle picture.
Save you Wordle picture on your H:Drive My pictures. Call it Wordle and make sure you save it as a JPEG file. Add your picture to you blog. Can do it like I did or put it on the side of your blog. You can save your paint file if you like but you do not need to publish or print your Wordle. Close out the Wordle site.

Post 5: Put either a calendar or fish tank widget in you blog . at the bottom or side posts. Go to layout and click on gadgets. Click on “more gadgets” and type in search box calendar or fish tank. You can do both if you like.

Post 6: Search Engines
You will use search engines to complete this assignment. See the links at the end of the directions.

1. Pick a city in Europe. Do a search on this city. Use at least two engine searches


2. On your blog post your results for both searches . * Type in the name of the engine search you use. *What you typed in the search box . * and how many hits it gave you.
Example. Google: typed in nice France Results: 1 - 10 of about 92,500,000 for nice France ( look to the top right and it will give you how many hits)

Post 7: Create a Glogster.
Follow the directions from Mrs. Stack to activate your account. Create a glogster using at least 4 pictures and 3 links. You can create print screens or use pictures you have taken and uploaded. When your glogster is finished add to your blog and your netvibes page. You will later add it to your web page that your are going to create after this.





Post 8: You are going to look at websites and evaluate them to see if they are real or fake. Go to these websites and read about Evaluating Web Sites.

Google two website to compare. ( Sites must be Appropriate. )
Use the handout at this site to rate both of your sites.


Create a post with your 2 url links (websites) that you rated.
Write a paragraph on your ratings of the site. Tell what was best about each site and what was not so good about each site design. Tell how many yes and no's each site received and why. ( Turn in both copies of the cyberguide ratings worksheet.)

Post 12: Evaluate the following sites. Tell what is good and bad about them. Tell some facts about each website. Its the site legit or a hoax? You should have at least a paragraph for each site. Do them in the order listed below.

Post 13: You will need to take about 5 - 1 0 pictures. Make you pictures relate to each other so that you can create a photo story using them. This will be due June 8th. Save them on a flash drive or you can create a flickr account at home. You can also email them to your epals email account. You will need to create an account at home or sign up at home for a yahoo email account. (if you already have one then you will be OK to sign up for flickr at school)

Post 15: Create a sketchcast account. Follow the directions and create a sketchcast. Post it in your blog in a blog post.

Post 16: Make sure you have you ikeepbookmarks all booked and ready to print on Monday June 14th. Make sure you copy URLs to your blog site and yola site into word and print and turn in by Monday June 14th. Make sure you blog site and yola website urls are bookmarked in you ikeepbookmarks.

Post 17: Final Exam Project

1. Take written part of exam.
2. Create a new page on your Yola website. Call it Field Trip or give it an appropriate title.
3. Create a Virtual Field Trip. You are planning a Virtual Field Trip to share with your class.
• Use internet explorer to scout the Web and find a great place to take your class on a field trip. Try Virtual Zoos, Museums, aquariums, amusement parks, theme parks, etc.
• Hotel, Air Fair are paid for but you must list the cost of these.
• You have $ 500.00 dollars extra to send of the group of 32. The student must pay for any further costs..
• The place you choose for your field trip must be of some educational value.
• How will you get there?
• Where will you stay if needed?
• How and what will you and your classmates eat?
• Your trip can only be for 4 or 5 long.
• What are you going to show people from your field trip? Pictures and information! Bookmark or keep the address of any websites websites that have good pictures or information that you may want to return to in the future. Post them on your webpage.
